In 2024, the Ukrainian Film Academy, in partnership with Netflix and European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE), announced the Grant Program “Script Development and Exclusive Online Sessions with EAVE Experts.” The main goal is to support Ukrainian creators in Ukraine and worldwide who have been affected or displaced due to the war, enabling them to continue and develop their work.

 

The program offered:

• $10,000 for the development of an original feature-length script (with a duration of 70 minutes or more) for 25 projects teams of two, made up of a scriptwriter and producer

• Translation of grant recipients' scripts into English

• A series of exclusive online sessions with EAVE experts: teams received support through group sessions discussing key industry trends and individual EAVE sessions for script and project development, which covered strategies for funding and marketing.

Four international experts evaluated the projects, each of whom was required to be unconnected to the projects in any way.

These initiatives for the Ukrainian film and TV industry continue to be supported by Netflix through the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity. Over the past two years, 200 industry professionals have received creative grants, and more than 650 Ukrainian filmmakers, screenwriters, producers, and other creatives have participated in training and mentorship. With Netflix's support, the Ukrainian Film Academy has also provided script development grants to 48 projects and post-production grants to 10 projects.
