COLOR OF THE WIND

fiction feature film

"Amid the heat of the Olympic Sailing Regatta of 1980, the renowned Ukrainian athlete and two-time Olympic champion Valentyn Mankin suddenly veers off course, separating himself from the other competitors. He sails against the planned route—and against common sense. As a result, he completely loses the wind and risks finishing last, bringing shame upon Soviet sports in the eyes of the world and potentially ruining his career." © Ukrainian Pravda, 1980.

The Color of the Wind* is a biographical drama about the life of an extraordinary athlete who spent his entire life going against the tide, challenging not only his sporting rivals but also the Soviet system. His journey is the story of a childhood dream that grew into a lifelong calling.

The film takes the audience from Valentyn’s childhood years in postwar Kyiv to the international arenas where he claimed his victories. It is a story of inner struggle, finding faith in oneself, and proving that dreams can overcome any obstacle.

On his path to glory, Valentyn had to face conflicts with his father, personal losses, and even the collapse of his athletic career. Yet his life was not only marked by difficult decisions but also by incredible triumphs. Most importantly, Mankin possessed a unique gift: he could see the color of the wind, guiding him even through the fiercest storms of life.

This film is not just a story about sports, but also one of love, memory, and the human spirit that can rise above all challenges.
